How to write a CV in Romanian

  • The CV is written in Romanian. If the job asks for a foreign language, EURES advises also sending it in an international language.
  • Work experience starts with your current or most recent job.
  • Don't include your whole history, only what fits the position, with concrete examples.
  • Parts of the European model: personal information, desired job, work experience, education and training, personal skills, driving licence.
  • Native language and foreign languages with their level.
  • If you have periods without work or study, explain why.

Europass or another model

The common European model is approved by Government Decision no. 1021/2004, and ANOFM recommends a CV preferably on the Europass model. CVabroad prepares a CV with the same basic parts, fitted to the ad. If the ad expressly asks for the Europass form, we tell you in the app.

Length

According to the Europass instructions, two pages are enough in most cases.

Photo and personal details

Current Europass advice says to include a photo, but the older instructions and the ANOFM model treat it as optional unless the employer asks for it. Date of birth and citizenship are optional too. We don't generate photos: you can add your own. The model has no personal numeric code (CNP), so we don't add it.

Questions and answers

Can I make a CV in Romanian for free?

The example on this page and the match check are free. A finished CV for a specific job ad, with a translation and with files, costs €9 for 30 days, one payment.

Do I need to know Romanian?

Not to prepare the documents: you write in English and see every sentence translated. If the ad requires the language, the app asks about your level and enters it truthfully.

Do I have to use the Europass form?

EURES and ANOFM recommend it, but the sources we read don't present it as mandatory. Check the ad: some expressly ask for a CV in European format.

Can I work in Romania without a permit?

According to EURES, people from non-EU countries get access to the Romanian labour market only insofar as vacancies cannot be filled by Romanian, EU/EEA or Swiss citizens, and they need a work permit issued by the Inspectorate-General for Immigration at the employer's request. We don't decide whether you have this right.
