What a Polish CV contains

  • Contact details: full name, address, phone, e-mail.
  • Cel zawodowy: one or two sentences for the specific job.
  • Doświadczenie zawodowe: last job first, company, position, duties, achievements.
  • Wykształcenie, kursy i szkolenia: education, courses and training.
  • Foreign languages with level, skills, driving licence, qualifications.

What you don't have to enter

An employer may ask a candidate only for name, date of birth, contact details, education, qualifications and employment history (art. 22¹ § 1 of the Polish Labour Code, as explained by UODO). A PESEL number, marital status and parents' names are not on that list. A photo is voluntary.

How long a CV should be

Preferably 1 A4 page, 2 at most. Labour offices advise writing concisely and fitting the CV to the offer.

The consent clause

Polish employers usually require a data consent clause, and it follows from the job ad. UODO explains that consent is not needed for current recruitment. In the app the choice is yours: we add the clause if you confirm it or if the ad requires it.

Questions and answers

Can I make a CV in Polish for free?

The example on this page and the match check are free. A finished CV for a specific job ad, with a translation and with files, costs €9 for 30 days, one payment.

Do I need to know Polish?

Not to prepare the documents: you write in English and see every sentence translated. If the ad requires the language, the app asks about your level and enters it truthfully.

Must a CV for Poland have a photo?

No. The Labour Code does not require one. If you add one, it should be recent. We don't generate photos.

Can I work in Poland without a permit?

According to EURES, citizens of EU and EFTA countries don't need a work permit, but for a stay longer than three months they must register their residence at the Provincial Office. Others usually need a permit or another basis to work. We don't decide whether you have this right: check your document, because the employer will ask about it.
