CV in Italian: Italian CV format, template and rules
How to write a CV in Italian: sections, Presentazione, languages, photo and the data clause, according to Italian employment centres and EURES. Below is a template with a translation of every sentence.
How to write a CV in Italian
- Dati personali: full name, date of birth, address with town, phone, e-mail.
- Presentazione: the position you are applying for, availability and strengths, e.g. “disponibile su tutti i tipi di turni”.
- Esperienze professionali: last job first, period, company, position and tasks in points.
- Istruzione e formazione: schools and courses, most recent first. For a course write when, how many hours and who ran it.
- Competenze linguistiche: each language with its level, even basic, plus your native language as madrelingua.
- Patente and skills: driving licence, software, forklift, reading technical drawings.
Photo and length
EURES and the employment centre in Lecco say a photo is not needed unless the ad asks for it. Europass advises adding one, so the decision is yours. If you add one: passport-style format, neutral background. Length: preferably 2 pages at most.
The personal data clause
EURES and Italian employment offices say to add consent to data processing under the CV. Art. 111-bis of the Italian privacy code says that consent is not needed for recruitment when you send a CV on your own initiative. The app asks you about this clause and adds it if you confirm or if the ad requires it.
Dates and signature
Write periods as, for example, “Dall'01/01/2024 al 31/12/2024”, or “Da marzo 2021 a oggi” if you remember only the month. Sources differ on a date and signature at the end of the CV: an older list from the Friuli Venezia Giulia region mentions them, the Lecco centre does not, so we don't add them.

Usually it is not needed unless the ad asks for it. We don't generate photos: you can add your own.

According to EURES, EU citizens work in Italy without a work permit. Others need a residence permit that allows work. We don't decide whether you have this right: check your document, because the employer will ask about it.
